About the Courses
Description:
Pathways students have a range of learning needs, from complex learning to behavioural difficulties, and often encompassing a range of specialised physical requirements.
Students are encouraged to explore their very individual thoughts and feelings about the world around them, by investigating an array of different media associated with various art and design disciplines.
Students on the Full Time course complete work experience within the art and design field both within the college and at external venues. Students also exhibit a selection of their work within the college and this year at North Edinburgh Arts Centre.
This allows students to develop personal skills and attributes such as confidence, communication and presentation, as well as allowing them the opportunity to progress to higher levels of art and design courses as they become more interested in communicating personal ideas through the creation of images.
Duration and levels of study:
· Full Time (Access 3). 3 days per week.
· Part Time Full Day (Access 1 independent units). 1 day per week
· Part Time ( Access 1 supported unit plus college units). 2 hours per week
· Part Time Outreach (college units). 2 hours per week at New Trinity, Wester Hailes, North Fort Street, Portobello and Gorgie Farm
All courses start in September and finish in June. However there may be the opportunity to join these courses at different points throughout the year, depending on class sizes.
Further study:
Students completing the Full Time course successfully may apply for the BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design.
